Broom maker appears in Yeading

A BROOM maker and basket weaver was on hand to give children a demonstration to celebrate six weeks of environmental activities.

The event was part of a 'Touching Nature' project held at Yeading Junior School, in Carlyon Road, last Saturday.

The event encouraged those who live near the Greenway and Yeading Brook to explore the green spaces near to them.

The project was held in partnership with the National Grid who are carrying out a pipeline project in the area, and an archaeologist was also available to chat to residents.

Barry Watson, Groundwork project officer, said: "Yeading meadows are a real surprise and probably only really enjoyed by a few-keen eyed dog walkers.

"If you keep your eyes and ears open around here you will come across orchids and bats, kingfishers and deer."

We'd like to hear from you.
