PUPILS starting their first day at secondary school got their term off to a bang with an imaginative mix of activities.

Harlington Community School, in Pinkwell Lane, Hayes, launched a 'student induction programme' to welcome the new year seven's into their new school life.

There were team building exercises, African drumming, and salsa dancing sessions to get the term off to an exciting start, while sixth formers were put through their paces by an Army recruitment team.

Gurkaran Thiara, 11, a new year seven student, said: "I was worried the school would be too crowded and busy but everyone is very relaxed here. The "Skull Island" activity was good fun and we worked individually but discussed it all first.
"It's a great school for studying"

Mrs Sian Statters, deputy headteacher, said: "Everyone at Harlington Community School has been involved in the Student Induction Programme over the first three days of term.
"There has been a real buzz around the school with students being introduced to learning at Harlington."

We'd like to hear from you.
