BRITISH Transport Police have released CCTV images of the yobs who launched a violent attack on a fellow train passenger after a dispute over a seat.

The 29 year-old victim was set upon by three men on a train at Hayes and Harlington rail station on the afternoon of December 20, after refusing to move from his seat for one of the attackers.

A GROUP of neighbours are fuming after having double yellow lines painted along their road, making it into a "racetrack" and leaving them with nowhere to park.

Jane and Ernie Verity, of Church Road, Hayes, are amongst the residents who awoke last Friday (19) to find their road being lined, one of several traffic calming measures already in place on the heavily congested bus route.

POLICE have released sketches of the young thugs involved in a serious assault on new years day which left a 50 year-old man in hospital.

The assault took place in the early hours of January 1 in Yeading Lane, Hayes, and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward or for any information which might lead to the suspects.

AN AIR ambulance was called to take an injured pedestrian to hospital on Saturday night (20).

Emergency services arrived at 11.42pm and police closed off Uxbridge Road at the junction with Yeading Lane, and Church Road just after midnight.

THE TWO boys accused of raping an eight year-old girl in a Hayes park last year have been committed to the Old Bailey after denying the offence.

They are alleged to have sexually assaulted the girl in a park in College Way, Hayes, on October 28,

They each denied two charges of rape and are due to appear at the Old Bailey on 10 May for trial.

Sports complex a 'fIasco', says MP

THE MP for Hayes has branded the Botwell Sports Centre project a 'fiasco' following news of more construction delays and spiralling costs.

Reacting to the news that the centre's grand opening would be pushed back further, John McDonnell, (pictured) Labour MP for Hayes and Harlington, said: "It has leaked out that the new pool which we were promised seven years ago and was supposed to open last November, will not now open until the summer and is up to three quarters of a million pounds over budget.

"In addition, despite all the council's promises, the staff who have served us loyally in the existing pool are being treated like chattels and under the council's privatisation are having to apply for their own jobs.

"This whole saga is a complete fiasco and I am calling for an independent inquiry into the mismanagement of this project."

AN INTERNATIONALLY renowned racing pigeon breeder faces an uncertain future in the sport after having the loft containing his prizewinning birds raided by thieves.

Ken Hine, 74, of Charville Lane, Hayes, had 120 of his beloved thorough-bred pigeons, worth in excess of £200,000, stolen from his coup in the early hours of February 7.

Mr Hine said that his birds were "irreplaceable" and added: "These thieves think that by stealing my birds they can have the success that I have had, but it has taken me 30 years to get to this point and now I have nothing.

"I am on the floor, it really hurts. It feels like there is a knife in my ribs and I can't pull it out."

RESIDENTS are calling for change on a gridlocked school run that descends into pandemonium each morning.

Concerns are mounting over the dangers of the heavy traffic on Judge Heath Lane, Hayes, which is home to Wood End Park Community School.

The route, which also accommodates the U4 bus route and is often the site of heated arguments between drivers, has traffic calming measures in place which only allow traffic to move in one direction at a time, but Dennis Mollard, of nearby Stuart Crescent, says that they have the opposite effect: "Every time I go down that road my blood pressure goes up, it is just a nightmare.

THE two ten year-old boys accused of raping an eight year-old girl appeared at Crown Court for the first time this morning.

The two boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, face two rape charges after the alleged attack in a Hayes park in October.

They appeared at Isleworth Crown Court this morning to confirm their names and were told that it was likely that their case would be heard by a high court judge, because of the sensitivity of the case.

They are due to return on February 22 for a plea and case management hearing.
