New Hayes & Yeading FC plans up for consultation

REVISED plans for a 'mini village' on the site of the Hayes and Yeading football ground have been announced.

The latest proposals for the land of the 6,500-seater ground, in Church Road, Hayes, are for 185 one to five-bedroom houses, signalling the potential arrival of some 450 new residents. Thirty five per cent of the homes have been allocated as affordable housing for families.

Earlier proposals put forward in November 2008, for 282 houses, were met with criticism from the council and residents, and developers Barratt Homes promptly revisited the scheme.

These latest plans look to address some of the initial concerns, and another round of public consultation is under way.

Surrounding residents were notified of the new plans via a leaflet drop that took place in September last year, outlining the key features of the revised proposals ahead of the application being lodged.

Local people were invited to submit their views on the new-look development, and although it was thought to be an improvement on the first set of plans, there were still reservations.

The issues raised included the strain on public services that would be caused by new residents moving into the area, traffic management and parking problems and increased congestion in the surrounding areas.

One resident, who has asked not to be named, fears that Bell House Field will suffer as a result of the development.

She said: "They are proposing to put a footpath across it but I don't see why. It such a lovely area that should be kept as it is.

"The traffic along Church Road is bad enough as it is, especially considering that it is on a bus route, and the extra cars trying to access the entrance road will cause major tailbacks."

John Fitzgerald, Managing Director at Barratt Southern Counties, said: "As the property and financial market has changed so rapidly over the last two years, Barratt has seen a shift from smaller properties to a demand for more family homes and so we have adapted our plans accordingly. The changes have been developed and agreed with the cooperation of the local planning authority.

"We are certain that the new plans are right for the area and will meet demand for local housing needs.

"By making these changes we see that we are building homes and communities that will also respond to the needs of future generations."

Hayes FC and Yeading FC merged in May 2007, and plans to find the newly formed club a shared home materialised shortly after.

Once plans for the site are given the green light and the protracted demolition of the historic ground goes ahead, the club intend to move to The Warren, Yeading FC's old home.

If you would like to make a representation about these plans, write to Hillingdon's Planning Services at the Civic Centre, Uxbridge, UB8 1UW, or call 01895 250 230. The deadline for representations is February 17 and a decision is due to be made by April 13.

i really dont want a footpath crossing bellhouse field.as a resident in the cottages for 22 years our field is a place of peace and quiet and dogwalking.putting a path there will mean more rubbish thrown as if we aint got enough and the loss of all the bushes and shrubs at the side.foxes and wildlife inhabit those bushes and i dont want to be exposed to a new housing estate.at least willenhall is sheltered from us
